Do I need a car?
A car is strongly recommended to move freely between the spots. That said, if you take kitesurf, wingfoil or land-sailing lessons, the school picks you up directly at the accommodation. Without lessons, we’d still advise renting a car to stay mobile.
What wetsuit should I bring?
Summer (May to October): shorty or 3/2 mm wetsuit. Winter (November to April): 3/2 mm or 5/4 mm wetsuit.
What’s the wind like in Dakhla?
In summer, the wind generally blows between 25 and 35 knots. In winter it’s a little lighter but often more constant.
Is Dakhla hot or cold?
Temperatures are fairly stable year-round: 20–25 °C in summer and 15–20 °C in winter. Because of the wind, pack light long-sleeved clothing, trousers and a windbreaker, even in summer. In the evening, a light jacket is handy.
Are there beaches to sunbathe and swim?
Dakhla isn’t a classic beach destination — it’s wild, windy nature. There are no laid-out beaches with sun loungers, and the wind is often too strong to lie quietly on the sand.
Can you cater for vegetarian or vegan?
Yes, absolutely. Karima happily adapts to your needs. Just let us know in advance if you’re vegetarian, vegan or have any dietary restrictions.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, WiFi is free throughout the house and in the rooms.
How far is the airport?
Dakhla airport is just 15 minutes from us.
Do you serve lunch?
Yes. If you arrive around lunchtime, we can prepare you a tagine (chicken, fish or vegetarian) for €8 per person. Just let us know a day in advance.
I’ve booked kitesurf lessons — do I need a car?
No — the school picks you up directly at the accommodation. Without lessons, though, a car is strongly recommended to make the most of your stay.
What’s the best season to come kitesurfing in Dakhla?
Dakhla rides year-round, with over 330 windy days a year. The most consistent stretch is roughly April to September, with 25–35 knots in summer; winter wind is a touch lighter but often more constant.
Is it good for beginners, and where do you learn?
Yes, Dakhla is an ideal place to learn. La Lagune, about 20 minutes away by normal car, is a flat-ish spot with rescue boats, perfect for your first days; Speed Spot also offers a large standing area at high tide.
Is Dakhla safe, and do I need a visa?
Dakhla is an established, calm kite-tourism town. Most nationalities enter Morocco visa-free for a tourist stay of up to 90 days, but we recommend checking your own case with the Moroccan authorities before you travel.
Is it suitable for families and non-kiters?
Absolutely. Between Farid’s art atelier, the farm animals, the calm of the oasis and desert excursions, there’s plenty to enjoy even without getting on a kite. Land sailing is very easy — about 20 minutes to learn — and is a hit with the whole family.
How much does a stay cost and what’s included?
Breakfast is €6 per person. On top of that, our three-course Moroccan dinner is €15 per person (order before 11:00 the same day), a lunch tagine around €8, and the airport transfer €20 per trip. Book at the best rate on Booking.com.
How do the kite school and gear rental work?
Partner schools collect you directly at the camp and take you to the spot that suits your level, with the gear. Land sailing and kite are run by our in-house team and partners; just tell us what you’re after and we’ll arrange it.
How many nights should I plan for?
With over 330 windy days a year, even a few days already gets you riding, but a week lets you explore several spots, work with the tides and rest between sessions. To progress with lessons, a full week is ideal.
Where exactly is the camp located?
The camp sits in the centre of the Dakhla peninsula, about 15 minutes (5 km) from the airport, at GPS 23.7928, -15.91393. The last 250 m run along an unpaved track off the main road; the camp is lit at night, and we arrange a private transfer since no public transport reaches it.
